Travel to Nadhi Hills

Nandi Hills, also known as Nandi Betta, is a popular hill station located about 60 kilometers from Bangalore in the Chikkaballapur district of Karnataka. Situated at an altitude of approximately 1,478 meters (4,851 feet) above sea level, it is renowned for its stunning sunrises, pleasant climate, and lush greenery. The hills hold a rich historical significance, dating back to the Chola period and later serving as a summer retreat for Tipu Sultan. The name Nandi Hills is derived from the ancient Nandi Temple at the summit, dedicated to the sacred bull of Lord Shiva.

Key attractions include Tipu’s Drop, a historic cliff offering panoramic views, and the Bhoga Nandeeshwara Temple, an ancient Dravidian-style complex known for its exquisite carvings. The serene Amrita Sarovar, also known as the Lake of Nectar, is a beautiful perennial lake surrounded by lush greenery. Visitors can also explore Tipu Sultan’s Summer Residence, a historical wooden building adorned with beautiful carvings, and Brahmashram, a natural cave used for meditation by Sage Ramakrishna Paramhamsa.

Adventure enthusiasts can enjoy trekking on several trails, paragliding for stunning aerial views, and cycling on the winding roads that offer a challenging but rewarding experience. Nandi Hills is also a haven for nature lovers, with its eucalyptus trees, coffee plantations, and a variety of bird species, including rare and migratory birds. The best time to visit is from October to March, when the weather is cool and pleasant, making it ideal for outdoor activities and witnessing the spectacular sunrise. Nandi Hills is well-connected by air, train, and road, with the nearest airport being Kempegowda International Airport in Bangalore, and regular bus and taxi services from Bangalore and other nearby cities. This scenic hill station offers a perfect getaway for those looking to escape the hustle and bustle of city life and immerse themselves in nature, history, and adventure.
